Platform requirements
Operating systems: Windows® XP
Hardware: Apache HTTP Web server (with configuration file modified to support the IBM system feature)
Software:
- Web browser (for the search tool)
- Optional: For all video formats other than still images and MPEG1 and MPEG2 videos, download FFmpeg.exe and copy to the installation folder (for example: C:\Program Files\Imars\bin) (for details, see the "Optional Software Installation" section in IMARS Guide for alphaWorks.pdf).
Installation instructions
- Set up the HTTP server, as follows:
- Install the Apache HTTP Web server into a directory of your choice (hereafter referred to as [APACHEROOT]. On Windows PCs, it is usually C:/Program Files/Apache Software Foundation.
- Configure the http.conf file in the [APACHEROOT]/Apache2.2/conf/ directory as described in IMARS Guide for alphaWorks.pdf.
- Restart the Apache server.
- Download imars.zip (~8.6 MB unzipped) and unzip to a directory of your choice (such as C:\Program Files\Imars\ (hereafter referred to as <DIR>).
- Download classifiers.zip (~6 MB unzipped) and unzip the file to <DIR>/bin.
- Optional: Download colors.zip (~95 MB unzipped), domains.zip (~121 MB unzipped), and peopleobjects.zip (~116 MB unzipped), and unzip the files to <DIR>/bin/classifiers.
- Navigate to <DIR>/bin/.
- Read the license agreement in the /license subfolder.
- Run Imars.exe (indexing tool) in <DIR>/bin folder.
- Specify the input search directory and the results directory (in sync with http.conf settings).
- Set Options, Images, Video, Metadata, Classifiers, Clusters, and Features tab in the indexing tool, or use default values.
- Click on the Start button. After cataloging is finished, a link to the collection will pop up in your default Web browser (or it can be accessed through http://localhost/imars).
