JdbcMe for DB2

A Palm (Java Micro-Edition) JDBC driver for DB2 UDB for AS/400 databases.

Date Posted: August 10, 2000
Overview

JdbcMe for DB2 has graduated!

JdbcMe for DB2 has been incorporated into IBM's Toolbox for Java 2, Micro Edition (also known as ToolboxME for iSeries). JTOpen is the open-source version, which provides the new Micro Edition function.

Another downloadable version of the source for JTOpen allows the micro classes to be compiled on one's own machine.

About the technology author(s):
Rich Dettinger and Fred Kulack protect and counsel IBM as AS/400 JDBC Jedi knights. They focus on the force as it flows through the AS/400 Native JDBC driver. "We consider ourselves true geeks and would trade everything but our families or friends for technology (well... ok... If you promise to be nice to them and return them soon 8-) )."

Mr. Dettinger and Mr. Kulack are involved heavily in Java for AS/400 technology (specifically, Java and DB2 UDB for AS/400, including JDBC, JTA, Java Stored Procedures, and Java UDFs). They designed and implemented the tiny but useful JdbcMe driver and server. They fully believe in free technology, free source code, and all things Java, and they are working to improve the JDBC driver and Java data access on the AS/400 every day.

Mr. Dettinger and Mr. Kulack can be reached at rchjdbc@us.ibm.com, but this gets checked rather infrequently ("hey, we're busy coding....We just love this stuff!")
