 | IBM PLACESadmin is built on top of IBM PLACES Middleware. IBM PLACESadmin uses the programming APIs, such as mapping and directory APIs, provided by IBM PLACES Middleware. | | |
 | First you will use IBM PLACESadmin to import, create, and modify your indoor maps, content, and POIs (points of interest); these indoor spatial data will be put into the database. Then you will use IBM PLACES Middleware to write JSPs/servlets (or other Web technologies) to retrieve and use the spatial data. IBM PLACES Middleware currently implements three services: a mapping service, a positioning service, and a directory service. | | |
 | Currently, three services are implemented: a mapping service for displaying the indoor map contents; a positioning service for pinpointing your asset and people on the map; and a directory service for using and managing POIs (points of interest). | | |
 | The adapter framework enables multiple positioning technologies, such as RFID, Zigbee, or UWB, to be "plugged in" to IBM PLACES Middleware for use and management in a consolidated manner. Plugging in new adapters requires modification of the properties file within LAS.jar and placement of the positioning code within LAS.jar; a developerWorks tutorial shows how to do this. | | |
 | Download the binaries and start playing with the Web applications. In order to see LAS.jar in action, please download IBM PLACESadmin. | |
