1. For whom are the SCLM Productivity Tools designed?
The tools are useful for SCLM administrators or SCLM users to extend their existing environments through the provided set of tools. They extend the capabilities of the existing SCLM functions and products regarding administration and other SCLM usage such as C++ build. The provided tooling may also be used as learning examples as provided in redboooks. At this point it is not intedend as an easy to go package but rather may be accompanied by additional service offering. Some functions are also available and described in detail in the redbook SG24-7592-00 Application Lifecycle Management with SCLM on System z."
2. Which skills are required for using this package?
You must know and be able to handle PDS datasets on the host side and be familiar with IBM ISPF. The toolkit does not replace the information from the "ISPF Software Configuration and Library Manager (SCLM) - Developers and Project Managers Guide" and the "ISPF Software Configruation and Library Manager (SCLM) - Reference." One should have a basic understanding of SCLM and its purpose. It's just a way to use SCLM more productively. Knowledge of REXX is also recommended.
3. Where can I get more information?
Some of the provide tools are discussed in the following IBM Redbooks:
- SG24-4843 SG24-4843 "Using ISPF/SCLM for Automated and Controlled Software Development
- SG24-7592-00 "Application Lifecycle Management with SCLM on System z"
