Installation instructions

  1. Download and install the RPM file.
  2. Make sure that the environment variable JAVA_HOME points to a local installation of Java 1.3 or above.
  3. If you get the error message Package sim_ppc-746-06 is intended for a ppc64pseries architecture, then install the RPM with this option: --ignorearch.
  4. Edit the scrollpv file in the /opt/sim_ppc/bin directory, as follows:
  5. You may also need to change the first line (#!/usr/bin/perl) in run_timer_xx (found in /opt/sim_ppc/bin) to point to a known copy of Perl.
  6. You may also want to add the /opt/sim_ppc/bin directory to your PATH so you can run the timer from any directory. Run_timer_* will place the results files in the directory from which it was invoked.
