Platform requirements for Visual Application Builder

Operating systems: Windows® NT Workstation or Server 4.0 SP 6a or above, Windows 2000 Professional SP 2 or above, Windows XP Professional SP 1 or above

Computer:

• Intel® Pentium® II processor minimum; Pentium III 500MHZ or above recommended
• 512 MB RAM minimum; 768 MB RAM recommended
• Disk space: 1.2 GB minimum for installing WebSphere Studio Application Developer and additional disk space for your development resources. Note: Minimum disk space can be reduced if optional features and run-time environments are not installed.
• Display: SVGA (800x600) display minimum (1024 x 768 recommended).
• A mouse or an alternative pointing device

Network: TCP/IP installed and configured.

Java^TM tool: Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 1.3 or above (if you want to profile your applications)

Software:

For VAB Version 5.0:

• WebSphere Studio Application Developer 5 (60-day trial version)
• WebSphere Studio Application Developer 5.0.1 PTF (follow link, then search)

For VAB Version 5.1: WebSphere Studio Application Developer 5.1 (60-day trial version)

Web browser: Microsoft Internet Explorer® 5.5 SP1 or above, or Netscape Navigator 4.76 or above. The Universal Test Client and Web Services Explorer require the use of Netscape Navigator Version 6.0 or above, or Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or above.

Installation instructions for Visual Application Builder For Version 5.0

1. Make sure that both of the following are installed:
• WebSphere Studio Application Developer 5 (60-day trial version)
• WebSphere Studio Application Developer 5.0.1 PTF.
2. Download vabtp_501.zip.
3. Unzip it to a temporary Visual Application Builder directory.
4. Start WebSphere Studio Application Developer 5.0.1.
5. Open Install/Update perspective (from the menu: Help, Software Updates, Update Manager).
6. Expand My Computer to locate the Visual Application Builder directory you just created. Expand it.
7. Select vabtp, Visual Application Builder Technology Preview, Visual Application Builder, and click on the Install button.
8. When the installation is complete, you are asked to restart the product. Click on Yes to complete the installation.
Note: This action will not reboot your machine.

For Version 5.1

1. Make sure that WebSphere Studio Application Developer 5.1 (60-day trial version) is installed.
2. Download vab_51.zip.
3. Unzip it to the wstools\eclipse\plugins directory, which is located under the WebShpere Studio Application Developer 5.1 installation directory (usually C:\Program Files\IBM\WebSphere Studio\Application Developer\v5.1).
